ICE 21 includes updated toolbar organization in the ICE3D window. A breakdown of the functionality of each toolbar is included below.
Menu Bar
From left to right, the menu options are:
File
•Save Screenshot...F12: Select this option or press F12 to save a screenshot of your current camera view.
•Export: Export functionality in ICE Milan has been consolidated under this option. Export now includes:
o Export IFC file... (Existing)
o Export WRL file... (Existing)
o Export i3dx file... (Added from ICE 2D window)
•3D Settings...: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from Application Settings in the ICE 2D window. Use this option to configure your settings for ICE3D.
•Close 3D view: Select this option to close the ICE3D window.
Edit
•Properties: Select this option to open the Properties Editor.
•Finishes: Select this option to open the Finishes Editor.
•Undo: An option added to this menu in ICE 21. Select this option or use the keyboard shortcut to undo your last change.
•Redo: An option added to this menu in ICE 21. Select this option or use the keyboard shortcut to redo your last change.
•Delete: An option added to this menu in ICE 21. Select this option or use the keyboard shortcut to delete a selection.
•Flip: An option added to this menu in ICE 21. Select this option to flip a wall in ICE3D 180 degrees e.g. if a wall has a different design on each side, use the Flip function to switch which side is facing you.
View
The View menu is a new addition to the primary toolbar in ICE 21. It includes:
•Camera Filters: An option new to ICE 21. Use Camera Filters to change the way objects appear to the camera without changing the finishes of the objects themselves.
•Wireframe: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the 3D Styles menu in ICE3D. Select this option to display a wireframe view of your file.
•Show Floor Grid: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the Tools menu in ICE3D . Check the box to show the floor grid in your file and uncheck to hide the grid.
•Show City Background: An option new to ICE 21. Check the box to show a city in the background. Show Floor Grid and Show City Background cannot be turned on at the same time. Turning one function on will turn the other off, or both can be turned off at the same time.
•Classic: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the 3D Styles menu in ICE3D. Select this option to use the Classic 3D style. Classic and Reveal styles cannot be turned on at the same time.
•Reveal: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the 3D Styles menu in ICE3D. Select this option to use the Reveal 3D style. Classic and Reveal styles cannot be turned on at the same time.
•Reveal Style Settings: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the 3D Styles menu in ICE3D. Use this option to to configure FX Finishes, Lighting and Camera for different 3D and Render styles.
•Reset View: Reset the camera view to the original location in ICE3D. This performs the same function as the Reset View button in the secondary toolbar.
•Level View: Level the camera view in ICE3D. This performs the same function as the Level View button in the secondary toolbar.
•Overhead View: Pan the camera to an overhead view in ICE3D. This performs the same function as the Overhead View button in the secondary toolbar.
•Refresh: Refresh the camera view if changes to the ICE file are not appearing in ICE3D.
•Information: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the Edit menu in ICE3D. Select this option to view information about entities in your ICE file.
Tools
•Zoom to in Plan View: Zoom to a selected object in 2D Plan View. This performs the same action as the right-click Zoom to in Plan View function and the Zoom to in Plan View button in the secondary toolbar.
•Zoom to in 3D: Zoom to a selected object in ICE3D. This performs the same action as the right-click Zoom to in 3D function and the Zoom to in 3D button in the secondary toolbar.
•Measure Tool: An option new to ICE 21. Check the box on to enable the Measure Tool in ICE3D.
•Spin around selected object: Existing functionality from ICE Milan moved from the right-click menu. Spin 360 degrees around a selected object.
•Show Performance Suggestions: An option new to ICE 21. Use this option to adjust your ICE3D experience for Better Performance, Better Visuals or to Custom Settings.
•ICEscapes Settings: Enable ICEscapes and adjust the settings by clicking this option or pressing V on your keyboard.
•Scenes: Set up paths and scenes in ICE3D. This performs the same action as the Scenes... button in the secondary toolbar.
•Layers: Turn the 2D visibility and 3D opacity of layers on and off, lock and unlock layers and reorder layers as needed.
•Start 3Dconnexion navigator: Use this option to enable a 3Dconnexion mouse.
•Show CUSTOM and COM text: Check the box on to show CUSTOM and COM text in ICE3D and check the box off to hide the text.
Plug-ins
The Plug-ins menu is a new addition to the primary toolbar in ICE 21. It includes:
•ICEvr: Use the checkbox to turn this option on and off to enable or disable ICEvr.
•ICEreality: Use the checkbox to turn this option on and off to enable or disable ICEreality.
•ICEscapes: Once you have allowed ICEscapes, use the checkbox to turn this option on and off to enable or disable ICEscapes.
•ICEscapes Settings: Select this option to open the ICEscapes Settings window and adjust your ICEscape.
•ICErender auto: Existing functionality from ICE Milan moved from the Render Styles menu. Use the checkbox to select a render size. Options include:
o Small (640x480)
o Medium (1280x720)
o Large (1920x1080)
o Custom...
•ICErender photo: Use this option to export an ICErender as a photo.
•Photo style settings...: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the 3D Styles menu in ICE3D. Use this option to to configure FX Finishes, Lighting and Camera for different 3D and Render styles.
•Automatically add lights: Check the box on to automatically add lights as needed to your render. This performs the same action as the Enable checkbox for Automatically Add Lights in the Photo Styles Settings window.
•Create array of user lights: Existing functionality in ICE Milan moved from the Tools menu in ICE3D. Using this option will create an array of user lights for use in a render, but will disable the Automatically add lights function once used.
•Show camera controls: Check the box on or off to show or hide the camera controls for Focus, Depth of Field and Field of View.
•ICEvision Cloud: Select this option to launch ICEvision cloud, which allows you to share interactive fly throughs of designs created in ICE.
Help
•Live Chat: Existing functionality in ICE Milan added from the 2D plan view Help menu. Select this option to enter a live chat with an Info team member.
•ICE help: Existing functionality in ICE Milan added from the 2D plan view Help menu. Select this option to be taken to the ICE Software Help website.
•ICE Shortcut Keys: Select this option to view an ICE Help article about shortcut keys.
Primary Toolbar
From left to right, the icons in the primary toolbar are:
•Save Screenshot: Save a .jpg screenshot of your current camera view.
•Undo: Reverse your last action.
•Redo: Reverse your last Undo.
•Delete: Remove the selected item from your ICE file.
•Refresh: Refresh your ICE3D view.
•Information: View information about a selected entity in your ICE file.
•Properties...: Access the Properties Editor.
•Finishes...: Access the Finishes Editor.
•Zoom to in plan view: New addition in ICE 21. Zoom to a selected object in 2D Plan View.
•Zoom to in 3D: New addition in ICE 21. Zoom to a selected object in ICE3D.
•Measure Tool: New addition in ICE 21. Measure multiple distances and objects and display those measurements in ICE3D.
•Scenes...: Open the Scenes window to set up paths and scenes.
•Camera Filters: Open the Camera Filters window.
•3D Styles: Toggle the 3D style between Classic and Reveal.
•Toggle Camera Controls: Show or hide the camera controls for Focus, Depth of Field and Field of View.
•ICEscapes: Indicates whether ICEscapes are allowed or disallowed. Click the ICEscapes Choices arrow to the right to change the permissions for ICEscapes.
•Auto : Execute a rendering: Auto execute a render of your current 3D camera view. Click the Auto Styles Presets arrow to the right to select a render resolution.
•Photo styles settings...: Configure FX Finishes, Lighting and Camera for different 3D and Render styles.
•Photo : Execute a rendering: Execute a photo render. Click the Photo & 3D Style Presets arrow to the right to select the quality of the render.
Secondary Toolbar
From left to right, the icons in the secondary toolbar are:
•Reset view: Reset the 3D camera to its default view.
•Level view: Bring the camera view up to a level position.
•Overhead view: Pan the camera to an overhead view.
•Layers...: Open the Layers panel.
•ICEscapes Settings...: Open the ICEscapes Settings window.
