Ceiling Support Extrusions

Scroll Prev Top Next More

ICE has several options for adding drop-ceiling support to your ICE file. Ceiling support extrusions provide perimeter support for drop ceilings. However, they do not include drop-in ceiling tiles, t-bars, and other ceiling components.

ICE has two options for specifying integrated ceiling support with DIRTT walls: the Ceiling Antler and the Ceiling Thief. You can specify these integrated ceiling support extrusions on non-stacking solid and solid over solid stack wall styles. Both the Ceiling Antler and the Ceiling Thief allow you to add drop ceiling support directly to DIRTT walls without having to attach the integrated ceiling to the base ceiling. The option that you choose depends on specific conditions in your layout.

ICE also has a drop ceiling perimeter hanger for drywall. You can add these hangers to your ICE file.

Ceiling Thief

If you want to maximize your wall height and have a very short space between your ceiling support extrusions and the top of your wall, you can specify the Ceiling Thief extrusion. The Ceiling Thief places your integrated ceiling support as close to the top of your wall as possible.

You can also use the Ceiling Thief to place your integrated ceiling support directly above a full-height door. You cannot specify the Ceiling Thief directly above the door header; however, you can modify a stack door style to create a very small stack at the top of the door. This stack accommodates the Ceiling Thief so that the perimeter ceiling support appears to be directly above the full-height door.

Ceiling Antler

If you need to have space between your ceiling support extrusions and the top of your wall, you can specify the Ceiling Antler. The Ceiling Antler can appear lower down a wall, creating a space between the base ceiling and the drop ceiling.

Drywall Ceiling Drop Ceiling Support

If you want to add integrated ceiling support for drywall, you can add the Drywall to Drop Ceiling Perimeter Hanger to your ICE file. This item appears in the Parts & Pieces folder in the ICE Product Palette. When you add it to your file, it appears as a Non-Visible Item. You do not specify it in your layout.

Different Ceiling Heights

You can also combine the Ceiling Antler and the Ceiling Thief to create a wall or door style that accommodates different ceiling heights on different sides of the wall or door. For example, you could specify a Ceiling Antler on one side to accommodate a lower ceiling with space at the top and a Ceiling Thief on the other side to maximize your ceiling height.
