The Merging function will add in a .collection file of custom items to the existing Custom Library. Merging is an additive process, meaning it will only import custom items if they are not already there.
When merging, if there is a duplicate item in both the ICE file’s library and the .collection file, merging will keep the item from the ICE file’s library and discard the item from the merged collection. There is one exception to this; if the item in the merged collection has more recent pricing, it will keep that one instead.
Note: If you intend to use a .collection to share across files, keep in mind that the names and types of the custom items affect linking and merging. If there are two versions of the same item, but one of these fields is different, then it will consider them as two different items.
To merge a Custom Library:
1.Open the Custom Library Editor by navigating to Edit > Edit Custom Libraries.
2.In the top right, click Merge.
3.Navigate to and select the custom library (it must be a .collection file type) you want to merge in.
Note: You can only merge collection files for the catalog you have selected.
4.Click Merge.
5.Your Custom Library has now merged. A dialog will appear to confirm the number of items that were added.
Remember, if you are merging your libraries and the dialog indicates something unexpected (ex. something being replaced that you didn't intend), you can always cancel, investigate, and then resume.
